The storm that hit Southern California on Monday broke rainfall records as it swept down from the north and delivered much-needed moisture to areas parched by drought. Most regions received over an inch of rain!
The unpredictable rainfall so early in the season means there might be much more on the way.
This could mean big problems for your older/weathered commercial roof!
If not addressed beforehand, your commercial roof could experience significant damage during the rainy winter months.
What you should do to protect your commercial roof from rain damage:

Get a professional evaluation of your current roof. A professional roofer can analyze the condition of your roof and determine what needs to be fixed or redone before the rain wreaks havoc on your building.
Fix any existing leaks in your roof. Though the last few months have been dry, the uptick in rain could reveal the weak points in your roof. A minor leak could become a big problem if not addressed before more rainfall.
Clean out all drains and gutters. Buildup or damage in these areas can cause major backups that can ultimately cause your roof to flood. Water buildup is extremely harmful to roofs and can lead to major damage throughout the roof and building.
Start your re-roofing project. If you have been holding off on a much-needed roof replacement, do it now! Emergency repairs can be extremely costly and only put a bandaid on the bigger issue.
Don't wait until it's too late! Due to high demand, you may experience much longer wait times for repairs if you call during the rainy season.
